Restorative dental care
So... what is restorative care?
Even with great brushing and regular visits, little bumps in the road can happen. When they do, you want care that’s gentle, modern, and centered on your child’s comfort. Restorative care is how we fix cavities and repair teeth while keeping your kiddo calm, confident, and smiling.
At Shiny Happy Smiles, we use advanced techniques and natural-looking materials so treatment feels easy and stress-free for both kids and parents. Whether it’s a tiny cavity or something that needs a bit more attention, we’re here to guide you through it with care that feels steady, supportive, and just a little magical.
Fixing teeth is about more than filling cavities
Protects your child’s smile
Restorative treatments help stop cavities from spreading and keep baby teeth healthy until it’s time for them to fall out naturally.
Preserves confidence and comfort
We use materials like tooth-colored fillings and zirconia crowns that are strong, safe, and blend in beautifully with your child’s smile.
Prevents future problems
Catching issues early means less dental work later. Our gentle, proactive approach helps reduce stress and avoid more serious treatment down the road.
Our restorative care treatments
When a tooth is too damaged for a simple filling, a crown helps restore strength and protect it until the permanent tooth comes in. We offer zirconia crowns that look just like natural teeth with no metal or shine, just a clean, confident smile. These crowns are strong and durable, making them a great option for kids who need both protection and aesthetics.
If decay reaches the nerve of a baby tooth, a pulpotomy may be the best way to relieve pain and save the tooth. Sometimes called a “baby root canal,” this treatment helps preserve the tooth’s structure so your child can eat, speak, and grow with comfort. We make the experience as smooth and gentle as possible.
This non-invasive treatment is used to stop early decay without drilling. It’s ideal for children who are too young or anxious for traditional fillings, and it can help slow or halt cavities until further care is needed. It’s quick, safe, and completely painless.
If your child has a tongue- or lip-tie that’s affecting feeding, speech, or comfort, our CO₂ laser allows us to gently release the tissue with precision and minimal discomfort. Healing is faster, and there’s often no need for stitches. Many families come to us through referrals from lactation consultants, therapists, and pediatricians who trust our approach.
Composite fillings are a natural-looking option for restoring small to moderate cavities. They blend in with the tooth, are durable, and allow us to treat decay conservatively. Your child will leave with a healthy smile that still looks and feels like their own.
What you can expect
from start to finish

Helping your child feel comfortable
We begin by making sure your child feels safe and at ease. We explain things in a friendly, age-appropriate way and offer calming tools like nitrous oxide if needed.
Numbing and preparation
If numbing is required, we apply a topical gel first to keep the process comfortable. Then, we gently remove the decayed part of the tooth while keeping as much healthy structure as possible.
Filling and shaping
We apply a tooth-colored composite material in layers, shaping it to match the natural contour of your child’s tooth. Once it’s in place, we harden the material using a curing light.
Checking everything and celebrating
We make sure the bite feels natural, make any small adjustments needed, and then give your child high-fives for their bravery. We’ll walk you through home care and what to expect afterward.
Have questions? We've got answers.
Baby teeth are important for chewing, speaking, and guiding adult teeth into place. If decay is left untreated, it can cause pain, infections, or damage to developing permanent teeth. Keeping baby teeth healthy supports your child’s overall growth and comfort.
Zirconia crowns are more natural in appearance and don’t contain metal. They’re especially popular for front teeth, where appearance matters most. Both options are strong and effective, but zirconia offers a more esthetic solution many parents prefer.
We specialize in helping kids feel safe and supported during treatment. Our team uses a calm, friendly approach and offers options like nitrous oxide or IV sedation when needed. We’ll guide you in choosing what’s best for your child and help build positive experiences with each visit.

Stories from parents like you
Love this dentist! My kids always look forward to their appointments. Honestly would not take them anywhere else!!
The entire staff is so friendly and professional. I have an anxious child and they do a great job at calming her down to get her teeth clean and cared for!
Our experience is always good. Dr Josh, Ashley, and the entire staff are excellent with children. They even went the extra mile to accommodate us during our visit. It's hard to get good service in any field these days. So, I am happy to leave this review.
Dr Josh and his team are A+! We’re honored to be able to be a part of this practice family and are so grateful for the care that they share with our kids. Finding a dentist that you trust is important— you won’t go wrong with this great practice!
The entire team here is amazing! Tiffany gave me great advice that completely changed the way we floss for my 5 year old. Flossing is now easy! Dr. Joshua has also been great . He is so gentle and knowledgeable. I feel so blessed to have my children here.
From scheduling to check out was so smooth and stress free! All the staff were super sweet and you can tell they love kids. Thank Alexandria, Catrina and Dr Josh for being gentle, patient and compassionate to my daughter and a 1st time mom❤️
Dr. Josh and Ashley were AMAZING!! Extremely patient and they talked my daughter through the whole procedure. In and out and she left with a huge smile because it was painless. Hands down A+ and highly recommended!!
"Dr. Josh doesn't treat you like just another person in his chair. We've developed a nice relationship and it's just really important to be able to know that we're being taken care of really well."
